Early Intervention​

In-Home Respite Care

Provides a break to parents and caregivers of children and adults with disabilities, seniors, and others dependent on a caregiver. Respite providers can be family, friends, or trained professionals. Respite care helps to strengthen parent and caregiver resilience and wellness.

Plumas Rural Services

The In-Home Respite program provides temporary breaks for caregivers of children and adults with disabilities, seniors, and those recovering from a illness or surgery. Care is provided in the individual’s home by trained and screened Respite Care Providers. Families may interview and select Respite Care Providers of their choice.

California's Early Start Program

Provides early intervention evaluation and services to young children, ages 0-3, through collaboration with Plumas Rural Services Early Start Family Resource Center and Plumas Unified School District or Plumas Charter School Special Education Services.

Far Northern Regional Center

Early intervention services under Early Start are provided by Far Northern Regional Center and local schools to eligible children under 3 and can include: assistive technology, psychological services, hearing services, speech and language services, training and counseling, service coordination, health and social services, specialized instruction, and more.

Early Start Family Resource Center

Provides resources, coordination, and support to families with children, birth to three, who have or are being screened for a disability or developmental delay in partnership with Far Northern Regional Center and local young child education programs, such as State Preschools, Head Start, Plumas Unified School District, and Plumas Charter.

Plumas Rural Services

The Center offers parent to parent support with outreach, quality resources, training and education, and timely referrals for evaluation and service to parents and caregivers of children, birth to three, who have or may have disabilities or developmental delays. Staff assists families with transition planning from early education to preschool at age three.

Early Intervention Infant/Toddler Programs

Offers individualized educational options for families with children age 0-3 years. Assists with Far Northern Regional Center Early Intervention Program intake process.
